Gather in the Garden: Bees and Campesinos, The Invisible Producers
Time: Wednesday, May 10, 2017 11:30 AM - 3:30 PM PDT
Location: Namaste Lounge
Behind every cup of coffee, fruit salad, and chocolate bar there are hundreds of pollinating insects and a multitude of families harvesting produce. Both bees and peasants are essential but often overlooked contributors to global food security and both are threatened by the expansion of industrial agriculture. During this talk, we will navigate the intersections between these two invisibles: bees and campesinos. We will get to know some of their faces and stories, and reflect on more inclusive politics in which our actions acknowledge the participation of these overlooked actors in our desired social order.
